Do you know that Egg has an expiry date?.. Read to find out!!!

What about foods that carry no expiry date?

They are okay for 3-5 weeks after you get them provided you got them fresh. If you’re buying from a store or roadside shop in Nigeria, you will most likely get them fresh as eggs sell out fast.
To check if an egg is still fresh in case you have doubts, fill a small bowl with water and place the egg in it. If it floats it’s bad.

Roadside meals

Roadside meals like deep-fried yam, potatoes, chicken, pork, or beef are preferably consumed immediately or at most within a day or two of purchasing them. If you want to preserve the meats, you can fry them again and refrigerate so that they can last longer.

In Nigeria, fruits in stores do not carry an expiry date. Your sense of smell, vision, and taste are your tools for checking. It’s easy to note when fruits are getting bad. Their appearance is an easy giveaway. If you notice any spoilt parts or unpleasant smell, do not buy it.

Keep in mind that many store owners in Nigeria do not really appreciate customers sniffing their products very close to the nose. They find it offensive. So when checking for defects, use your discretion.

When you get fresh fruits, you can preserve them in your refrigerator, though not all fruits take to refrigeration well.

Bananas can survive without refrigeration for longer than they will in the fridge. Oranges will last for 1 to 2 weeks in the refrigerator, coconut for 2 to 3 weeks, and apples for up to 3 weeks.
