Tiwa Savage and her former label, Mavin Records have been dragged into a two hundred-million-naira lawsuit by Naija singer, Danny Young who claims that Tiwa Savage and Mavin Records defied the Copywrite infringement law.

Consequently, a Lagos Division of the Federal High Court has fixed November 5 for hearing in a suit filed by a Nigerian Musician, Olumuyiwa Danladi a.k.a Danny Young, against fellow music star, Tiwatope Savage, over alleged copyright infringement. Tiwa Savage and Mavins may have parted ways. But this case will certainly bring them back together.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Danny Young is claiming N205 million in damages against Tiwa for allegedly using his property “ONE” without lawful authority. The music in question was released back in 2018 by the music diva and has since amassed more than two million views on YouTube. Danny Young claims it’s his work.

Both parties are set to battle each other in court on the 5th of November. If the case ends in his favor, he certainly will get N200m in damages and the case would serve as a warning to intending defaulters of Copywrite infringement.
